About FPRI Internship Programs
Summer interns can attend weekly foreign policy and career-related seminars with guest speakers.
Interns work directly under the supervision of Institute experts in one of three research areas: Eurasia, Africa, or Asia. Because duties and availability differ between programs,

Instructions and Conditions to Apply
- Please fill out the internship application form
- You must submit a single PDF file containing a cover letter explaining the internship you are applying for – Operations, Editorial, Eurasia, Africa, or Asia, a résumé, and a writing sample of 3-5 pages of work most relevant to the internship you are looking for (Research and editorial applicants only).
- Because of the high volume of queries and applications, you will only be notified if you are chosen for an interview.
- Although all internships are unpaid, many students have found success in obtaining work-study fellowships through their university’s financial aid office.
- Please carefully read all instructions before submitting an application. Your application will not be reviewed if you do not provide all of the needed materials in a single PDF file, or if you do not indicate the type of internship for which you are applying (Research, Operations, etc.).
- Students in high school are encouraged to apply. However, FPRI internships are quite competitive.
- Internships will be available in-person or remotely.
- There is no continual review of applications. Please see the submission deadlines listed above.
- There are no nationality limits, and applicants do not need to be US citizens.
- You must be authorized to work in the United States.
