About Ron Brown Scholarship

The Ronald H. Brown Scholarship Program (RBSP) grants 45–50 $40,000 four-year scholarships ($10,000 per year) to the most gifted and financially struggling high school seniors who exhibit a strong interest in public service, community engagement, business entrepreneurship, and global citizenship.

The four pillars of the late Ronald H. Brown’s mission to uplift people of all races, cultures, and ethnicities, especially our underprivileged youth.

The renewable scholarships can be used by winners to enroll in any qualified four-year college or university in the United States.

Ron Brown scholarships can be used to pursue any academic field and are not restricted to any field or career goal. Over 450 students have been selected as Ron Brown Scholars since the Program’s launch in 1996.

Eligibility 

If you meet the following qualifications, you are strongly urged to apply for the Ron Brown Scholar Program.

• Must be Black/African American.
• Must excel academically.
• Must exhibit exceptional leadership potential.
• Must participate in community service activities.
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Be a US citizen or hold a permanent resident visa card.
• Be a current high school senior at the time of your application.  

How to Apply

There is no online application option; however, you can print the application their website and mail it to them.

Print both pages of the application if you choose to print it from the website. There are sections that you, your parent or guardian, and the guidance counselor from your high school must complete.

Financial need is a factor that they consider in awarding scholarships.
