About Purdue Study Abroad

Purdue University is a research-based public varsity in west Lafayette Indiana and the prominent campus of the Purdue University system the varsity was established in 1896 

Application Procedures 

Ensure you thoroughly review, before applying to a program, 

To make an application visit, the web flyer of the program you have chosen. Only one application per student per term can be submitted.   

  1. Choose the “Click Here to Apply” link on the web flyer to access the online application.
    • Applying to an exchange, co-sponsored, or direct-enroll program for the or academic, summer, semester,  involves 2-step procedures First, you must make the application and be accepted to study abroad only when you receive Purdue Study Abroad approval that you can formally apply to your overseas host institution. 
  1. After the submission is done online, the screen will refer you to your “My Study Abroad” page which comprises of a checklist and instructions for each of the needed documents in support of your application. These includes a photo,  a transcript, a personal statement, and a recommendation proof that you have a passport or are applying for one.
  1. After your application is complete, it will go through the Purdue review process. In a week or two after your application is reviewed successfully, you will be notified if you are accepted into Purdue Study Abroad Program. Adhere to the instructions for the next steps you need to take

Special Information

  • Before applying ensure sure you meet the program eligibility criteria. Some programs are highly competitive and will stick to these requirements.  Others can accommodate students who have special needs Please contact a study abroad advisor to get complete information about eligibility. 
  • Most of our programs – with a small number of exceptions ensure you follow the standard deadlines; make sure to check the web page of your program of choice to verify if there is a special deadline. 
  • Ensure to Complete your application early enough Some programs are popular and can reach the enrollment cap before the stated deadline. 
  • Express your certainty by listing your second choice Some students cannot be accepted to their first choice and having a serious second choice avoids delays in approving applicants for study abroad. 
  • If the application deadline is on a weekend, the deadline is moved to the next business day automatically
