The Seattle Met is looking for an intelligent and talented design intern to assist with the creation of seattlemet.com and our quarterly print magazine.
About Met Internship
For this salaried work, four to five-hour shifts are needed between 15-20 hours each week. This internship typically lasts for six months. Throughout the academic year, they are accommodating to students’ schedules, and the internship can be used to earn academic credit.
Visual storytellers that are knowledgeable about typography, and color theory, and have a passion for powerful design are what they’re searching for. Here, conceptual thinkers who add comedy and a suitable amount of irreverence to their work will succeed.
Opportunities for art interns may include page design and layout, photo research, spot illustration, photography and picture editing, taking part in team brainstorming sessions, and helping with some administrative duties, depending on skill level.
Responsibilities
- Website and print publication design
- Assist art directors with the production of photo shoots and photo research
- Putting artwork online and checking print pages
- Making original illustrations or photographs (collage or digital illustration skills are a plus)
Qualifications
- Background in artwork, photography, or graphic design
- Understanding of Mac OS X and the Adobe Creative Suite
- The capacity to switch quickly between different tasks
- Strong focus on the details
- Dedicated to deadlines
- Independent and driven by oneself
